MacPherson, Murphy, Foster Receive Scholarships

Head coach Scott Shafer took the podium to address the media after Day 2 of preseason and shared some good news for tight end Cameron MacPherson, kicker Cole Murphy and center Donnie Foster. All three players have been placed on scholarship for the upcoming season.

MacPherson joined the Orange prior to the 2014 season after playing quarterback for two years at Georgetown University. He is actively involved with the Syracuse University Chapter of Uplifting Athletes. MacPherson was a member of Spring 2014, Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 Athletic Director's Honor Roll. He also made the 2014 ACC Honor Roll.

Murphy played in all 12 games last season and was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, presented to the nation's best kicker. He led the Orange in scoring with 50 points, making 13-of-16 field goals and 11-of-12 extra points. Murphy connected on career-long 50-yard field goals twice last season against Clemson and NC State.

Foster did not play in any games in 2014, but like MacPherson is actively involved with the Syracuse University Chapter of Uplifting Athletes. He was also a member of the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
