SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange football team opened its 2015 preseason camp on Sunday afternoon with a two-hour practice in shorts and helmets on the Schwartzwalder and Katz Practice Fields.

Sunday marked the first of 26 practice sessions leading up to the season opener against Rhode Island at the Carrier Dome on Friday, Sept. 4 on ESPN3.

Syracuse returns 13 starters in 2015, including eight on offense. Quarterback Terrel Hunt is the leader of that unit. The senior signal caller ranks 10th in SU history in career passing yards (2,621) and is tied for eighth in school history with 250 completions.

Hunt made one of the plays of the day Sunday, hooking up with Brisly Estime on a deep pass during the team period. It was the second big gainer for Estime, who also made a diving catch along the sideline during 7-on-7s after nearly being forced out of bounds.

The Orange continues its preseason preparation with another practice Monday afternoon.

On Saturday, Aug. 15, Syracuse will hold its annual FanFest at the SU Soccer Stadium. The event begins at 3 p.m. and will feature an exhibition between the 15th-ranked Orange men's soccer team and No. 3 Georgetown at 4 p.m.

Following the soccer match, the Orange football team will take the field at approximately 6:15 for an open scrimmage. Afterward fans are invited to join the team on the field for selfies with their favorite student-athletes and coaches.
