Terrel Hunt Ready for 2015 Return

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- After going down with a season-ending injury last year, senior quarterback Terrel Hunt is ready to bounce back in 2015 as the leader for the Syracuse offense.

Hunt was sidelined for most of the 2014 season after breaking his leg against Louisville, but being off the field and up in the coaches booth gave him a new perspective on the quarterback position.

"I was able to see the game from a different angle, but more importantly what the coaches were thinking," Hunt said. "It really helped me become more of a leader as well because I was able to help out the guys mentally and at the same time I became a student of the game."

With three days gone by in preseason camp, Hunt is utilizing each repetition as an opportunity to get better with his teammates. Both Hunt and head coach Scott Shafer believe in the 'right here, right now' mentality, which involves getting better each and every day. More importantly, it requires the team to have a singular mindset.

"Our guys have really bought in. The older guys have set the bar and been an example," Hunt said. "We've just been going out there and doing what we've been doing all summer."

Hunt continues to take snaps with the first-team offense and looks like he hasn't missed a step.

"I feel good. I'm excited to be out there," Hunt said. "Everything is fine. My body feels healthy, so everything is going well."

At Syracuse, Hunt ranks 10th all-time with 2,621 career passing yards. He will look to move up on that list starting Friday, Sept. 4 when the Orange hosts Rhode Island at the Carrier Dome in its season opener.

The Orange continues its preseason preparation with its next practice on Wednesday afternoon.

On Saturday, Aug. 15, Syracuse will hold its annual FanFest at the SU Soccer Stadium. The event begins at 3 p.m. and will feature an exhibition between the 15th-ranked Orange men's soccer team and No. 3 Georgetown at 4 p.m.

Following the soccer match, the Orange football team will take the field at approximately 6:15 for an open scrimmage. Afterward fans are invited to join the team on the field for selfies with their favorite student-athletes and coaches.
